Tinubu Absent As Buhari Presides Over APC National Caucus

National leader of the All Progressives Congress, Bola Tinubu, was conspicuously absent on Monday as President Muhammadu Buhari played host to a meeting of the national caucus of the party.
National leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Bola Ahmed Tinubu, was absent at the party's National Caucus meeting presided over by President Muhammadu Buhari, at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
No official reason was given for Tinubu's absence at Monday’s meeting.
The meeting is a prelude to Tuesday’s National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting of the party.
The caucus had on its agenda, two main issues: consideration of the party’s constitution amendment and consideration of a report of the committee set up by the party on true federalism.
The issue of the tenure elongation for members of the National Working Committee is also believed to be an agenda before the party chiefs.
There are insinuations that the party may consider setting up a national caretaker committee to run the affairs of the party.
Those in attendance on Moday night were Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, Senate President, Bukola Saraki; Secretary to Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, state governors, members of the party’s National Working Committee and other party chieftains.
A similar caucus meeting was held on February 26 where a decision was taken to extend the tenure of both the national and state officials.
At that meeting, Tinubu had reportedly kicked against the idea of tenure extension for the party executives insisting that congresses should hold where new set of leaders should be elected by party faithful.
