PDP Under Pressure To Sanction Mantu

Some members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) are calling for the sanctioning of the former Deputy Senate President, Ibrahim Mantu, over his comments that he aided the party in rigging elections.
The leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is under intense pressure to punish former Deputy Senate President Ibrahim Mantu for declaring that he aided the former ruling party to rig elections in the past.
Although the PDP has since distanced itself from Mantu, some angry members of the party still believed that Mantu should still be strongly reprimanded for what they called his reckless comments about the party.
Some members of his party were miffed at the comments by Mantu which has further exposed the party to criticism by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Mantu, a member of the party’s Board of Trustees (BoT) had  in a TV programme declared that he had helped the PDP rig elections.
A chieftain of the party in Lagos State, Busari Okanlawon, described the statement by Mantu as unfortunate and in bad taste.
He told Bounce News that Mantu’s confession would not be easily dismissed by Nigerians despite the party’s denial.
"Mantu is not any ordinary political gladiator. It is not sufficient to deny him, he is not an ordinary party man, he was a Deputy Senate President, long standing member of BoT and NEC.
"If the PDP is to be resurrected, the discerning Nigerian is waiting for the PDP leadership to take a decisive action against Mantu," he insisted.
He, however, said any decision that would be taken against Manttu should be done after proper consultation with all stakeholders in the party.
